Role Overview

The Knowledge Development Manager will spearhead the creation and management of knowledge programs, content strategies, learning resources, and initiatives that facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization. This role focuses on identifying key knowledge requirements, developing valuable knowledge assets, defining governance frameworks, and establishing systems that enable employees and stakeholders to access, apply, and continuously enhance organizational knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy strategies for knowledge growth, management frameworks, content planning, and organizational learning programs aligned with company goals.
  • Analyze and pinpoint essential knowledge gaps, expertise demands, emerging skills, and opportunities for gathering knowledge across departments.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of knowledge assets such as guides, manuals, reports, case studies, FAQs, training content, lessons learned, and best practice collections.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, L&D, IT, Operations, Research, Content, Data, Product, Legal, Compliance, and Leadership to integrate knowledge programs.
  • Implement governance policies addressing content ownership, metadata, taxonomy, versioning, review procedures, permissions, quality, retention, and archiving.
  • Create programs encouraging subject-matter experts to transfer and document institutional expertise.
  • Develop communities of practice, expert networks, forums, internal academies, mentoring, workshops, webinars, and events focused on knowledge exchange.
  • Conduct knowledge audits, stakeholder consultations, capability analyses, content gap reviews, information architecture evaluations, and learning assessments.
  • Build structured knowledge frameworks, competency models, process libraries, repositories of best practices, and organizational memory systems.
  • Establish mechanisms for capturing lessons from projects, customer interactions, operations, research, and business changes.
  • Track KPIs like knowledge asset usage, search efficiency, content quality, participation, training impact, and program adoption.
  • Perform ongoing reviews including content quality audits, repository checks, user feedback analysis, learning evaluations, and continuous refinements.
  • Manage budgets, resources, technologies, external consultants, experts, platforms, and strategic alliances relevant to knowledge development.
  • Leverage AI-driven tools such as intelligent search, generative AI, semantic search, knowledge graphs, automated classification, recommendations, and conversational assistants.
  • Utilize platforms including Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, Notion, ServiceNow Knowledge, Salesforce Knowledge, Miro, Figma, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, LMS, CMS, and enterprise knowledge solutions.
  • Create dashboards, reports, assessments, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership emphasizing knowledge performance and maturity.
  • Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams including knowledge managers, content developers, learning professionals, information architects, and researchers, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Library Science, Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Communications, HR, IT, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred in Knowledge Management, Organizational Learning, Information Science, MBA, Learning & Development, or similar.
  • Professional certifications in Knowledge Management, L&D, Information Architecture, Content Strategy, Project Management, or related areas are advantageous.
  • At least 5 years working in knowledge management, learning, content development, information management, research, or related functions.
  • Minimum 2 years leading knowledge development programs, repositories, content teams, or organizational learning projects preferred.
  • Strong expertise in knowledge management, learning methodologies, content planning, taxonomy, knowledge capture, governance, and sharing approaches.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, Notion, ServiceNow Knowledge, Salesforce Knowledge, Miro, Figma, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, LMS, CMS, and enterprise knowledge platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered enterprise search, generative AI, semantic search, knowledge graphs, natural language processing, automated content classification, intelligent assistants, and advanced analytics is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, writing, facilitation, stakeholder management, analytical, project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple initiatives while balancing priorities such as content quality, expertise access, information governance, technology needs, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Capability to thrive in remote settings collaborating with distributed teams, with some travel for workshops, forums, trainings, conferences, and strategic meetings as required.
