Job description
About the Role
This role entails leading and guiding a team responsible for the electrical maintenance of LT/HT switchgear equipment, motors, transformers, and other auxiliaries. The incumbent will provide technical direction to subordinate personnel in executing various maintenance functions and ensure the availability of critical spares.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and control preventive, routine, condition-based, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Plan and supervise outage work and execute annual overhaul maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet plant objectives effectively.
- Enforce safety protocols to achieve zero-accident performance across the department.
- Supervise contractors to ensure timely delivery of quality work.
- Organize and monitor maintenance operations in accordance with established plans.
- Identify spare parts requirements and system improvements through innovative solutions and best practices.
- Implement and adhere to Safety Management Systems (SMS), weekly audits under CHETNA guidelines, and follow-up corrective actions.
- Recognize and mitigate unsafe acts and conditions to enhance workplace safety.
Technical Competencies
- Expertise in electrical maintenance of auxiliaries including batteries, diesel generators, lighting systems, LT/HT motors, ESP electrical systems, switchgear, hoists, air conditioning systems, relays, protection systems, battery chargers, and EOT cranes.
- Proficiency in maintaining LT/HT switchgears, vacuum circuit breakers, transformers, and managing inventory and contract oversight.
- Familiarity with integrated management systems such as IMS, 5S, Six Sigma, DISHA, and energy audits involving high voltage levels up to 765 kV.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering.
- Preferred: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering (ME) or Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management or Energy Auditing credentials.
- Relevant work experience ranging from 18 to 22 years in electrical maintenance within industrial or infrastructure sectors.
