About the Role
Join Aurecon as a Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in substations within our Energy & Industrial division. Located in Hamilton, New Zealand, you will contribute meaningfully to projects that enhance communities, driving sustainable infrastructure solutions. This role requires leadership, creativity, and collaboration to design and deliver advanced high-voltage substation systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive design and delivery of high-voltage substation primary equipment, cabling, and earthing systems from initial concept through detailed design phases.
- Provide technical leadership on multidisciplinary transmission and distribution projects across New Zealand and Australia.
- Produce design documentation, power system analyses, proposals, and budgeting for complex project scopes.
- Develop and maintain robust working relationships with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers while assisting in project planning, resource allocation, and schedule management.
Candidate Profile
- Possess relevant engineering qualifications in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience specializing in transmission and distribution substation design.
- In-depth understanding of New Zealand and/or Australian utility standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proven track record in managing projects across all stages: planning, concept development, construction support, and commissioning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and offer constructive challenges.
