Job description

Role Overview

The Learning and Programme Delivery Assistant is a vital member of the Arts, Culture, and Lifelong Learning (ACLL) team, tasked with ensuring library programmes and activities effectively meet community needs. Working within a passionate, diverse team, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to the vibrant library experience across the Selwyn Libraries network.

Main Duties

  • Providing frontline customer service with emphasis on delivering educational opportunities
  • Coordinating library programmes and managing promotion and resources
  • Organising and delivering programmes suitable for all ages, including sessions for preschool children
  • Assisting the community in accessing council and government services, such as Heartland Services
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders
  • Being flexible to work periodically at various Selwyn district facilities including Te Ara Ātea, Lincoln, Leeston, and Darfield Libraries

Candidate Profile

  • At least three years of experience in Galleries, Library, Archive, Museum (GLAM) sectors, customer service, or educational environments
  • Strong digital literacy skills
  • Experience in programme delivery or training
  • Familiarity with educational library resources and information retrieval techniques
  • Ability to engage effectively with users of all ages and learning styles, adapting delivery accordingly
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Holds a full New Zealand unrestricted driver's licence and confident in driving
  • Tertiary qualification at level 5 or higher
  • Commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and understanding of Te Ao Māori

Working Hours and Location

  • Full-time permanent position, Tuesday to Saturday, 8:45 am to 5:15 pm
  • Primary base from Tuesday to Friday at Leeston Library & Service Centre
  • Saturday shifts either at Leeston or Darfield Library & Service Centre
  • Occasional work at other district library sites as required

Additional Important Information

  • All appointments require satisfactory police vetting or Ministry of Justice safety check
