Role Overview

With an accelerating customer base and AI at the core of scaling efforts, Canals is seeking a senior Machine Learning Engineer. This role demands swift, high-quality ownership of comprehensive ML pipelines and influence over product functionalities that deliver tangible benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable machine learning models geared toward optimizing and automating logistical operations for clients.
• Manage full project lifecycle, including problem identification, data analysis, model development, deployment, and ongoing production monitoring.
• Engage closely with engineering teams to ensure ML initiatives align with user requirements and business objectives.
• Provide leadership and mentorship in ML practices by conducting code reviews and promoting standards concerning reproducibility, quality, and performance.
• Assess and integrate advanced tools and frameworks to enhance ML infrastructure and workflow efficiency.
• Contribute to Canals’ strategic growth alongside its expanding customer network.

Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive senior-level experience creating and launching ML models in production settings.
• Proven ability to design scalable data pipelines and manage large datasets efficiently.
• Strong project ownership with a track record of delivering measurable, customer-centric ML solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks like scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, as well as data handling tools such as Pandas and Spark.
• Capability to unblock teammates by offering insightful code and architectural guidance.
• Experienced in working autonomously within dynamic, product-driven environments.
• Background in high-growth startups or smaller teams is advantageous.
• Knowledge of MLOps methodologies and tools is considered a plus.
