Maintenance Technician

Role overview

This position supports the upkeep and smooth operation of a luxury hotel in Riyadh. The role is focused on handling guest repair requests, carrying out preventive maintenance, and keeping building systems, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas in safe working order.

Key duties

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and work with guests to resolve issues.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually and identify any faults or wear.
• Transport tools and communication devices as needed during work.
• Locate and operate shut-off valves for equipment and utility systems in the building.
• Track maintenance stock and request parts or supplies when required.
• Share daily updates, task status, and issues with other shifts using approved communication methods.
• Use working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy-saving practices, and general building upkeep.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, small drywall repairs, wood trim touch-ups, light bulb and air filter replacement, and complete cleanup after work.
• Test, diagnose, and complete basic repairs on plumbing, electrical components, lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program televisions and handle general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures before starting maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping elements, including sprinkler systems.
• Use basic computer functions such as entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures.

• Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, and injuries without delay.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Store flammable materials correctly and securely.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Protect confidential information and company property.
• Greet guests professionally, respond to their needs, and assist guests with disabilities.
• Maintain quality standards and positive working relationships with teammates.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, and listen carefully to colleagues’ concerns.
• Carry out physical duties including lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, and placing items up to 50 pounds unaided, and heavier items with help.
• Work on stairs, ramps, and ladders, and perform bending, twisting, reaching, and stooping tasks as needed.
• Use computers to enter and find work-related information.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior experience in general maintenance, especially surface preparation and painting work, is preferred. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage. A driver’s license is required, and no supervisory experience is needed.
