Role overview

This position supports the engineering and facilities team at W Hotels in Riyadh. The role focuses on keeping guest areas, equipment, and building surfaces in good condition through painting, basic repairs, preventive upkeep, and responsive service for maintenance requests.

Key duties

You will handle guest repair requests, work with guests or customers to close out maintenance issues, and carry out preventive maintenance on tools and equipment used in kitchens and mechanical rooms. The job also includes checking tools and machines visually, transporting equipment as needed, and identifying and operating shut-off valves and other utility shut-offs for the building.

Additional tasks include maintaining maintenance stock, requesting parts and supplies when needed, and updating the next shift on completed work and any issues using the approved communication process. The role requires working knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy-saving practices, and general building upkeep.

Painting-related work includes surface preparation, painting, minor drywall repair, wood trim touch-ups, light bulb replacement, A/C filter replacement, and complete cleanup of the work area after repairs or painting. You will also test and troubleshoot basic equipment problems, handle simple plumbing fixes such as unclogging drains or plunging toilets, replace electrical items like lamps, switches, outlets, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices, and program TVs as required.

The role further includes general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks, using the lockout/tagout process before maintenance work, repairing interior and exterior landscaping items and sprinkler systems, and making basic computer entries such as air handler schedules and temperature changes.

You are expected to follow all company, safety, and security procedures; report hazards, incidents, injuries, and maintenance concerns; complete required safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials correctly. Professional appearance, confidentiality, respect for company property, and consistent service standards are all part of the role. The position also calls for a helpful approach with guests, including acknowledging them promptly, addressing service needs, supporting guests with disabilities, and thanking guests courteously.

Teamwork and communication are important. You will need to build positive working relationships, support shared goals, listen carefully to colleagues, and communicate clearly and professionally. Physical demands include lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, handling heavier items with help, climbing stairs, ramps, or ladders, reaching above and below the knees, and bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. You will also use computers to enter and find work-related information and may be assigned other reasonable duties as needed.

Qualifications

The preferred education is a high school diploma or GED. Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting is preferred, and experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an added advantage. No supervisory experience is required. A driver’s license is required.
