This role is based in Rivervale, Western Australia, and forms part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team working to maintain high-quality environments for residents, staff and visitors.

Role overview

An opportunity is available for a full-time experienced Maintenance Worker / Maintenance Officer to help keep built-form assets safe, dependable, compliant and well maintained. The role also contributes to the ongoing improvement of asset management processes and assists with infrastructure-related projects across aged-care facilities.

Key duties

  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance and customer service tasks according to schedules and duty statements, while working independently when needed.
  • Perform general repairs and upkeep work, including painting, tiling, surface preparation, paving, concreting, door and window repairs, roof and gutter cleaning, replacing non-electrical light fittings, and testing smoke detectors and RCDs.
  • Review maintenance requests in BEIMS each day, organise work efficiently, and determine when licensed tradespeople are required.
  • Follow safe work practices, use PPE correctly, and comply with organisational policies and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Identify hazards early, report defects, and contribute to risk assessments and hazard control activities.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with residents, families, staff and contractors while supporting a positive team environment.
  • Take part in mandatory training such as manual handling, chemical safety, fire and emergency procedures, and maintain safe working knowledge.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in maintenance, handyman work or trade-related repairs, along with the ability to communicate clearly and help keep facilities in proper working order.

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Maintenance Worker / Maintenance Officer, with basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and repairs.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Strong commitment to safe working methods and compliance with SCCWA policies.
  • Well-developed record-keeping ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • A proactive, responsive approach to work.
