Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Manager for BI & Analytics to enhance third-party seller success by maximizing the effectiveness of tools, resources, and support on the Walmart Marketplace. This role involves leading analytics efforts, insights generation, performance tracking, and employing AI-based decision support to grow our marketplace business. The selected candidate will translate intricate data into actionable strategies using cutting-edge analytics, predictive models, generative AI, and automation, improving marketplace growth, seller outcomes, customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue.

This position requires a blend of strong business insight, advanced AI and analytical skillsets, adept stakeholder collaboration, and experience in dynamic e-commerce or marketplace ecosystems.

About the Team

The Walmart India Cross Border team assists Indian sellers—including brands, manufacturers, and MSMEs—to access global markets by selling across Walmart's international marketplaces, exposing them to more than 120 million U.S. consumers monthly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage analytical frameworks to assess marketplace performance using essential business and operational metrics.
  • Detect trends, growth prospects, and potential threats using advanced analytics, delivering actionable insights that influence marketplace strategy and operational improvements.
  • Oversee the BI ecosystem by building dashboards, scalable reporting systems, and KPI frameworks, promoting reporting automation, data governance, and standardized metrics for consistent business intelligence.
  • Champion AI and Generative AI integration to boost forecasting, automate insights, accelerate decision-making, and optimize seller and customer outcomes.
  • Analyze seller and customer behavior throughout their lifecycle to enhance selection, effectiveness, engagement, retention, and overall marketplace experience.
  • Support strategic business decisions with data-driven planning, evaluating initiatives, pricing, promotions, inventory investment, and seller programs using forecasting, scenario simulations, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development, Category Management, Product, Finance, Operations, and Global Analytics teams to align goals, set performance indicators, deliver analytical solutions, and shape strategic results through effective data communication.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing analytics team to foster innovation, accountability, and a culture focused on data-driven decisions, establishing best practices in analytics and data governance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related domains required.
  • 6 to 10 years in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Science, Strategy, or closely related analytical roles.
  • Experience in marketplace, e-commerce, digital commerce, retail, or technology sectors.
  • Proficient in SQL for querying extensive datasets.
  • Skilled in data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude, utilizing AI/ML, predictive analytic techniques, or Generative AI tools to inform business decisions.
  • Effective communicator capable of presenting insights to executive leadership.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-moving work environment.
  • Preferred: Master's degree or MBA.
  • Experience with Python, R, or advanced statistical/data modeling tools.
  • Familiar with experimentation methods and A/B testing.
  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
  • Understanding of machine learning applications, predictive analytics, dashboard creation, and data warehousing.
  • Proven success delivering programs that stimulate business growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams in rapidly changing, ambiguous settings.
