Job description
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Manager - Store will be in charge of establishing and managing the stores and warehouse for a Greenfield solar cell manufacturing plant in Nagpur. This role involves setting up the entire store infrastructure and ensuring smooth inventory and warehouse operations aligned with project requirements.
Greenfield Project Setup
- Design and implement the entire warehouse and store facilities for the new plant.
- Develop layouts, storage techniques, materials flow plans, and warehouse zoning strategies.
- Plan and organize racking systems, storage containers, material handling devices, and identification protocols.
- Create and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and inventory control methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively with project, procurement, engineering teams, and contractors throughout plant construction and commissioning phases.
Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Oversee proper receiving, inspection, preservation, storage, and issuance of materials.
- Maintain optimal inventory balances to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Track inventory status such as ageing, slow-moving, obsolete and inactive materials.
- Conduct periodic physical stock counts and reconcile them with ERP data.
- Ensure implementation of FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable to inventory processes.
Material Planning and Coordination
- Coordinate seamlessly with Procurement, Planning, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Project teams to ensure uninterrupted material supply.
- Manage timely inward and outward material movements.
- Monitor consumption of project materials maintaining full traceability.
ERP System and Documentation
- Implement and sustain ERP-based inventory management control.
- Ensure accuracy of Goods Receipt Notes, material issue, stock transfers, returns, and other inventory transactions.
- Generate regular Management Information System reports for inventory, stock valuation, usage, and warehouse efficiency.
- Maintain thorough documentation to comply with audits and statutory inspections.
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a competent stores team during project implementation and ongoing plant operations.
- Delegate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Provide regular training on warehouse safety, ERP systems, and effective inventory management practices.
Compliance and Safety Management
- Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and internal audit compliances.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization through 5S methodology.
- Manage safe storage protocols for hazardous, electrical, mechanical, and vital spare parts.
- Support internal, external, and statutory audits as required.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives for warehouse automation and process enhancement.
- Optimize utilization of warehouse space and improve material handling workflows.
- Develop and track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, material availability, inventory turnover, and warehouse productivity.
- Implement Lean Warehouse practices and Kaizen for continual improvements.

- Prior experience successfully establishing Greenfield store operations before plant commissioning.
