Role Summary
This role calls for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to apply expertise in physics, materials science, and engineering to solve mechanical challenges, design specialized tooling, and oversee product lifecycle processes. The engineer will handle design, develop new components, and supervise manufacturing and assembly while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design and release of complex mechanical components and subsystems for plasma diagnostic sensors, utilizing precision CNC machining suited for vacuum and plasma conditions.
- Create comprehensive 3D models, engineering layouts, detailed drawings, and technical documentation.
- Conduct engineering analyses such as tolerance stack-ups, thermal and structural evaluations, applying GD&T and thermodynamics to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability.
- Direct product lifecycle phases including concept, qualification, release, and ongoing support.
- Develop and improve engineering standards, processes, and review protocols.
- Design, implement, and assess testing and qualification programs ensuring reliability and compliance.
- Troubleshoot complex engineering issues using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Collaborate interdepartmentally with teams across systems, plasma, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing for successful product outcomes.
- Guide supplier engagement, component selection, and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Lead projects and mentor junior engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 7 to 10 years' experience in product development within high-technology engineering industries.
- Proficiency in mechanical design, 3D CAD, GD&T, precision machining, thermodynamics, and engineering testing.
- Strong foundation in manufacturing processes and Design for Excellence principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for vacuum, plasma environments and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Skills in thermal, structural, or finite element analyses.
- Background in new product introduction, manufacturing release, and supplier management.
- Knowledge of contamination control and relevant semiconductor equipment standards.
