About the Role and Company

Join Tarmac Building Products Ltd, a leading UK provider of sustainable building materials and construction solutions, dedicated to shaping a sustainable future. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to work the night shift at our Mountsorrel Quarry located near Loughborough, Leicestershire. This role is ideal for applicants commuting from nearby areas such as Loughborough, Leicester, and Melton Mowbray.

Work Schedule

  • The role comes with a fixed night shift pattern and includes a four-day weekend every third week.
  • Weeks 1 & 2: Monday to Thursday, 19:30 - 06:00.
  • Weeks 3 & 4: Tuesday to Thursday, 19:30 - 06:00; Friday, 19:30 - 04:30.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, ensuring repairs are efficient and compliant with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Implement permanent fixes for any temporary repairs made.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance plant performance, maintenance routines, and asset reliability.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Maintain safety documentation and participate in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of issues.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role, including fabricating and welding skills.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance practices; experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is advantageous.
  • Apprenticeship Level 3 or equivalent qualifications such as ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Continuous Improvement processes, and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Experienced in using Computer Maintenance Management Systems and conducting Root Cause Analysis.
  • Self-driven with a positive attitude and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
