Job description

Position Overview

The role of a Naturalist at The Ritz-Carlton involves leading engaging programs for children, youth, adults, and families, including group activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, underwater photography and videography, guided botanical park tours, sustainability lessons, and arts and crafts. The Naturalist is responsible for communicating and enforcing the recreational facility rules designed to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee recreational activities, preparing all necessary materials and ensuring team readiness.
  • Observe activities and respond appropriately following local operating procedures in the event of emergencies.
  • Identify any situations where guests are unable to safely participate and report to supervisors or managers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of local heritage and culture, delivering educational content to guests.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report incidents such as accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions promptly to management.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests warmly, proactively addressing their service needs, including assisting guests with disabilities.
  • Engage professionally with guests and colleagues using clear communication and proper telephone etiquette.
  • Perform visual inspections of tools, equipment, and machines; physically move and manage objects weighing up to 75 pounds as needed.
  • Adhere to quality standards, continuously seeking improvements and innovations to enhance organizational quality.
  • Carry out additional reasonable job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year relevant professional experience.
  • Certifications including Lifeguard, Aquatic Safety, CPR, Oxygen Administration, Epinephrine Injection, First Aid, Food Safety, and Background Check clearance.
  • Compliance with any necessary local or state certifications or training.

The position is based at Ummahat Islands 2-3, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, and requires full-time onsite presence. It is categorized under Golf, Fitness, & Entertainment with a non-management designation.
