About the Role

The Outreach Keyworker for Transitional Housing at Auckland City Mission plays a crucial role in providing immediate and intensive support to individuals facing homelessness. This position focuses on engaging whaiora through rapid intake, conducting safety assessments, and addressing urgent needs within a dynamic and fast-paced context. The role offers short-term, focused assistance lasting up to four weeks, aiming to facilitate a seamless progression into mainstream transitional housing via coordinated and whānau-centred practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage whaiora experiencing rough sleeping via assertive outreach.
  • Utilise Auckland City Mission’s assessment framework to understand and evaluate whaiora needs effectively.
  • Provide case management services to individuals facing homelessness or unstable housing situations.
  • Create and implement collaborative, targeted, and time-sensitive action plans designed to foster confidence, accountability, and independence.
  • Collaborate closely with the Intake Coordinator in reviewing and processing essential documentation necessary for rapid intake procedures.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably specialising in social work, mental health, or addiction services.
  • Demonstrates a committed adherence to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and embodies the Auckland City Mission’s core values: Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū, Mana Tika, and Mana Ōrite through practical actions.
  • Experienced in managing complex caseloads involving clients with issues related to trauma, mental health, addictions, poverty, and homelessness.
  • Shows initiative and resourcefulness in navigating both formal and informal channels to accomplish goals.
  • Holds a valid full New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
