Internship Overview
The City of Mansfield is offering a part-time paid internship program designed for college students seeking practical experience in various municipal government departments. This opportunity features an hourly wage of $20 and includes five openings. Interns are required to commit up to 20 hours weekly for approximately 10 to 12 weeks starting in late August.
Internship Duties
- Engage in diverse assignments such as research, attending meetings, and task execution to enhance understanding of municipal government functions.
- Gain experience in multiple departments including Community Engagement, Marketing & Communications, Cultural Arts, Records Management, Hospitality & Tourism, Community Services, Historical Services, Library, Parks, Nature Education, Development & Building, Facilities Services, Environmental & Water Utilities, Finance/Budget & Accounting, and Municipal Court.
- Interns might rotate through different departments or work within a specific area aligned with their academic focus and career goals.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and at least 18 years old.
- Possess strong communication and writing skills, be flexible, energetic, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Must hold reliable transportation and availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends when necessary.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows and applications is required.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds, answer phone calls, and operate a computer keyboard.
Work Schedule
Interns can expect to work up to 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling that may include evenings and weekends over the course of ten to twelve weeks.
