About QML Pathology

QML Pathology is part of a leading Australian healthcare organization dedicated to providing quality, affordable, and accessible diagnostic services. With a wide network that includes over 80 medical labs and nearly 2,000 patient collection centers across the country, we support a comprehensive range of pathology testing from large hospitals to remote communities.

Role Overview

The Pathology Collector plays a crucial role in the healthcare journey by collecting blood and non-blood samples with precision and care. This position involves delivering a professional and reassuring experience to patients, ensuring that specimens are properly handled for accurate and timely diagnosis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Accurately collect blood and other specimens with attention to detail and patient comfort
Provide a welcoming and calm environment for all patients
Properly prepare and package samples for transportation following established protocols
Maintain precise records and adhere to procedural requirements
Contribute to smooth daily operations at the collection site

Candidate Profile

While experience in pathology collection is valued, we encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds such as aged care, nursing, disability support, or customer service roles that involve client interaction and care. Commitment to learning and reliability are essential qualities.

Qualifications and Experience

Prior pathology collection experience is beneficial but not mandatory
Certificate III in Pathology Collection preferred but optional
Healthcare-related experience or solid customer-facing background recommended

Requirements

Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) before starting
Ability to present proof of meeting immunization standards including Hepatitis B

Training

A comprehensive six-week paid training program will be provided including initial full-time commitment for two weeks, followed by at least 25 hours per week. Training is delivered through the Healius Academy and may be accelerated for experienced candidates.

Working Hours and Location

This permanent full-time role is based in Rockhampton, Queensland with working hours between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The position is offered as remote employment.
