Payroll Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Technician to join our client's team in Leeds, responsible for delivering precise and compliant payroll services to employees and clients alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage payroll processing for employees, directors, and clients on weekly, monthly, and quarterly bases in compliance with UK legislation.
• Provide expertise and support during testing and rollout of significant projects including payroll system developments, onboarding of schemes, software upgrades, and rectification processes.
• Create and execute test cases for new payroll systems and lead new system implementations.
• Administer statutory payments/deductions, auto-enrollment, real time information (RTI) filings, and third-party payments.
• Support payroll compliance through accurate preparation of P11Ds, P60s, PSA reports, and other relevant filings.
• Work collaboratively with Administration, HR, and Finance teams to ensure punctual and accurate payroll operations.
• Assist in initiatives like system upgrades and new scheme integrations while enhancing payroll workflows and controls.
• Address and escalate technical issues to appropriate teams for resolution.

Candidate Requirements

• Extensive experience handling high-volume payroll operations.
• Current and thorough understanding of UK payroll laws and regulations.
• Partially or fully qualified Member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).
• Skilled in managing complex payroll queries effectively.
• Strong customer service orientation paired with excellent communication skills.
• Experience in process enhancement, including careful documentation and problem-resolution.
• Ability to thrive as a team player in a fast-paced setting with a positive and adaptable approach.
