Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist

Role overview

The Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist will oversee the acquisition of medicines, medical consumables, and associated supplies so the hospital can maintain uninterrupted stock. This position focuses on efficient purchasing, supplier coordination, inventory control, and adherence to hospital procedures as well as relevant regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Source pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, and related items in line with hospital needs and approved buying procedures.
• Track stock levels and work with pharmacy and clinical teams to make sure required medicines and supplies are available on time.
• Communicate with vendors to collect price quotes, issue purchase orders, and monitor shipment progress until delivery is completed.
• Keep purchasing documentation accurate and review supplier service, pricing, and product availability regularly.
• Follow hospital procurement policies, pharmaceutical regulations, and all other applicable compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
• Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of experience in pharmacy purchasing, pharmaceutical procurement, supply chain work, or a similar area.
• Experience in healthcare or hospital settings is preferred.
• Working knowledge of pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory control, and healthcare supply chain operations is beneficial.
• Strong command of both Arabic and English is required.
