About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to join our contracting and construction team in Riyadh. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. This position involves close collaboration with project teams and stakeholders to track progress and analyze performance deviations.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain the project's baseline schedule in partnership with the project team.
- Monitor project progress regularly, updating the schedule and comparing actuals against the baseline plan.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, including S-curves and performance dashboards.
- Identify critical path activities, evaluate delays, analyze schedule variances, and recommend corrective measures.
- Develop and update resource, manpower, and equipment utilization charts as well as cash-flow forecasts.
- Collaborate with site engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to gather accurate progress information.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules to facilitate detailed interval planning.
- Assist in preparing time extension claims and delay analyses when needed.
- Coordinate schedule submissions, reviews, and approvals with consultants and clients to ensure alignment with contractual milestones.
- Ensure all schedules are aligned with project deadlines and contractual commitments.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering is required.
- At least five years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction or contracting industry.
- Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project software.
- Deep understanding of planning methodologies, including critical path method (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
- Ability to create baseline programs, progress reports, cash-flow curves, and resource/manpower histograms.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, bills of quantities (BOQs), construction techniques, and sequencing.
- Excellent skills in data analysis, reporting, and presentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
