Power BI Admin

Role Overview

Infosys is looking for a Power BI Administrator to own the administration, governance, and reliability of Power BI environments. This position is based in Bengaluru East, Karnataka, India, and focuses on managing service settings, security, gateways, refreshes, and performance across BI platforms.

What You’ll Do

• Run the Power BI Service, including workspaces, permission management, and tenant-level settings.
• Set up and support on-premises data gateways to ensure secure connectivity to data sources.
• Put security controls in place, including row-level security and role-based access.
• Watch service health, report usage, and capacity metrics, especially in Premium or Embedded environments.
• Oversee dataset refresh schedules, investigate failures, and help keep data accurate.
• Maintain BI governance standards, operational best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Support deployment pipelines and release movement across Dev, Test, and Prod environments.
• Work with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to translate reporting needs into workable solutions.
• Review usage statistics and audit records to identify adoption opportunities and improvement areas.
• Diagnose and resolve issues affecting reports, dashboards, datasets, and connected integrations.
• Follow and support backup, recovery, and versioning practices for BI assets.

Skills and Experience Needed

The ideal candidate should bring 2 to 5 years of experience in Power BI administration or a closely related BI role. Strong hands-on knowledge of Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, gateway setup, DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling is important. A solid grasp of data warehousing, ETL flows, and database systems such as SQL Server is also needed. Experience with Azure services like Azure AD, Azure SQL, and Data Factory is preferred. Familiarity with security implementation, including RLS, privacy, and compliance, is expected. Knowledge of Premium capacity management is an advantage, and experience with REST APIs or PowerShell automation is desirable. Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills are essential.
