Role Overview
The Procurement Officer position is a full-time onsite role located in Sydney, NSW. Responsibilities encompass overseeing the complete procurement cycle: from supplier sourcing, purchase order preparation and processing, to ensuring prompt delivery of required goods and services. The role involves assessing supplier performance, assisting in contract negotiations, and maintaining accurate procurement documentation consistent with company guidelines and budget constraints.
Key Duties
- Analyze purchasing data to spot trends and opportunities for savings and process efficiencies
- Collaborate with internal teams to clarify material and service needs
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and ethical standards in procurement activities
- Support ongoing enhancements in procurement procedures
- Foster effective supplier and cross-department relationships
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in procurement and purchasing, emphasizing supply chain and vendor management
- Skillful in managing purchase orders, including documentation and system workflows
- Experienced in contract negotiations, capable of assessing terms, prices, and service standards
- Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate purchasing patterns and suggest improvements
- Tertiary qualifications in business, supply chain, commerce, or a related field are highly desirable
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities to work with engineering, operations, and finance divisions
- Proficiency with ERP/procurement software and general office tools
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors, especially metals or related materials, is advantageous
- Capacity to work on-site at Sydney with excellent organization and detail orientation
