About the Role
A construction and engineering firm located in Kells, County Meath, Ireland, is seeking a Purchasing Officer/Buyer to oversee the complete procurement cycle. This role is crucial for ensuring a consistent supply of materials, plant, equipment, and services necessary for production and project execution. The position is full-time and based onsite.Key Responsibilities
- Identify and engage with suppliers, distribute Requests for Quotations (RFQs), negotiate favorable pricing and delivery timelines, and generate Purchase Orders (POs).
- Monitor the status of all orders, particularly those with extended lead times, and proactively address potential supply chain risks.
- Liaise with Production, Engineering, Stores, and site teams to ensure seamless coordination of deliveries.
- Handle the processing of returned items, manage discrepancies in quantities, and resolve invoice and PO-related queries, while maintaining meticulous records.
Requirements
- Previous experience in purchasing within the construction and/or engineering sectors is essential.
- Demonstrated strong negotiation skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with purchasing software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
