Role Overview

The Product Designer will create software experiences that feel timeless, inspired by the precision of German cameras, the playfulness of Japanese toys, and the universal appeal of brands like Coca-Cola. This position offers a workplace in San Francisco or New York City with in-office collaboration three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), enabling strong team interaction and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design product concepts balancing visionary thinking, craftsmanship, efficiency, and business impact.
• Oversee the development of new features from conception through UX design to pixel-perfect final product.
• Lead projects end-to-end with engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to gather insights on user needs and preferences, shaping the product roadmap.
• Partner with Marketing to develop compelling storytelling strategies that enhance user engagement across product touchpoints and communication channels.
• Create intuitive, practical design patterns, continuously evolving the design system as the product scales.

Qualifications

• At least five years of comprehensive product design experience, capable of independently managing entire projects.
• Deep commitment to understanding customer needs and advocating for superior user experiences that solve real problems.
• Skilled at deconstructing abstract concepts into straightforward, accessible mental models for users to quickly derive value.
• Proficient in crafting clear, aesthetic, and human-centered interfaces.
• Balanced focus on business realities and design quality—efficiently blending craft, speed, and commercial considerations.
• Strong convictions but open to listening and collaborating with diverse team members to reach optimal solutions.
• Effective communication skills to tell stories with both visual and verbal elements, facilitating alignment.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams including project management, engineering, research, data, and designers.

Compensation and Workplace

Notion offers competitive salary packages including cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Based in San Francisco, annual base compensation for this position is estimated between $285,000 and $330,000, depending on experience, role complexity, and location.
