At Moss, a Vomela Company, our greatest asset is our employees. We are a comprehensive visual communications firm seeking innovative and thoughtful professionals who collaborate with clients to develop impactful brand solutions and foster significant connections. While you contribute to creating major projects for global and local brands, we will support your career growth in ways that inspire passion.

Job Overview

The Production Scheduler plays a pivotal role in balancing production timelines at Moss plants nationwide. This individual collaborates closely with Sales, Pre-Production, and Production Management to efficiently assign, shift, and prioritize work orders across facilities. Acting as the central hub for directing new orders and capacity planning, the role focuses on aligning demand with production capabilities to optimize timely delivery, throughput, and resource efficiency. Strong organizational talents, sound decision-making amid changing priorities, and a data-informed method for handling competing demands between locations are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Distribute production demands evenly among all Moss plants, reassigning tasks to prevent bottlenecks and enhance throughput, while respecting customer deadlines.
  • Serve as the focal point for approving new orders, analyzing feasibility requests from Sales, and selecting the best site and schedule based on capacity, capabilities, and delivery dates.
  • Collaborate daily with Sales, Pre-Production, and Production Management to capture scheduling needs, set priorities, and resolve conflicts.
  • Lead and engage in morning and afternoon production meetings, including large project launch sessions to establish and maintain milestones for substantial projects.
  • Oversee production schedule adherence, review due and need-by dates, and coordinate with department leads to ensure on-time completion.
  • Monitor rework processes through completion, updating schedules to reflect accurate status.
  • Maintain weekly capacity updates across plants using Domo dashboards and other reporting tools to inform capacity-driven decisions and realign workloads.
  • Manage changes to shipment dates, communicate delays, and devise alternative or partial delivery approaches when full shipments are not possible.
  • Coordinate pull-from-stock activities and inventory assignments.
  • Take charge of resolving back-dated orders in FileMaker by reviewing the last 30 days and closing out internal Sales items as finalized.
  • Prepare weekly shipping cleanup reports listing jobs eligible for closure.
  • Identify discrepancies between estimated and actual work hours, seek operational feedback, and enhance future scheduling accuracy.
  • Oversee rental orders and participate in daily Rental RMA meetings to integrate rental tasks with production schedules.
  • Conduct plant visits (in person or remotely) to maintain a current understanding of shop floor conditions and validate scheduling decisions reflect real operations.
  • Leverage Domo and other analytics platforms to expose scheduling trends, capacity utilization, and performance indicators; create reports to guide nationwide production priorities.
  • Spot inefficiencies in scheduling processes and suggest improvements; stay updated on scheduling software and assist in adopting technologies to improve scheduling precision and speed.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with other departments, escalating workflow or quality issues when necessary.
  • Complete assignments punctually with meticulous attention to detail, documentation, and follow-through.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in production scheduling, expediting, or production control within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Strong comprehension of capacity planning, level-loading, and trade-offs when reallocating work between plants.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions under pressure, even with incomplete information.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality standards relevant to production scheduling.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; adept at coordinating across Sales, Pre-Production, Production, and plant leadership.
  • Proficiency with scheduling or ERP systems; experience with FileMaker is a benefit.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Domo preferred; strong skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable using tablet and desktop computer systems and open to learning AI tools to improve workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven mindset toward decision-making.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail with ability to juggle multiple projects amid fluctuating deadlines.
  • Able to interpret capacity, utilization, and variance data to inform scheduling actions.
  • Capacity to work under stress related to tight customer deadlines and brief lead times; willing to work additional hours as needed.
  • Role involves office work combined with regular physical plant visits; must be capable of standing and walking during floor rounds and sitting for extended computer use.
  • Prepared to travel up to 25% of the time to various plant locations for rounds and project launches.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health Care including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings plan with 401(k) options.
  • Life insurance offerings including basic, voluntary, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
  • Paid time off for personal and vacation needs.
  • Short and long-term disability insurance plans.
  • Access to training and professional development opportunities.
  • Resources dedicated to employee wellness.

Compensation

The role offers an annual salary ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 USD.
