About the Role
The primary responsibility is to organize and supervise daily activities for a team of operators, guiding them to accomplish departmental and company-wide objectives. This role provides team leadership while supporting demand at the Distribution Centre (AOC).
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance among manufacturing staff, including proper training and awareness of Cognex's EHS protocols.
- Maintain adherence to corporate and legal standards related to Environmental, Health, and Safety.
- Engage actively in achieving all manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain and uphold quality standards within production areas.
- Manage training in company policies, procedures, and skill versatility according to process guidelines.
- Accelerate production processes to maximize efficiency, including support functions.
- Oversee employee Core Time and Attendance system management.
- Coordinate with Inventory Control to ensure timely and accurate material transactions.
- Maintain all quality and production documentation, including training records, to meet internal and external audit standards such as ISO 9001.
- Promote and develop a strong culture of teamwork within the manufacturing environment.
- Recommend and apply improvements in production methods, workflow, factory layout, and product quality.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional and cross-divisional initiatives aimed at process enhancements.
- Assist in troubleshooting to maintain desired product output and yield.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing (5S) and Process Excellence (Six Sigma) methodologies.
- Collaborate with technical teams to coordinate equipment repairs minimizing downtime.
- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and data metrics to drive process improvements.
- Communicate manufacturing updates promptly and appropriately to the team.
- Conduct disciplinary actions and performance improvement processes as needed.
Authority and Administrative Duties
- Handle team discipline and performance enhancement as required by business needs.
- Carry out annual staff performance reviews related to merit adjustments, promotions, and demotions.
- Manage daily staff leave requests.
- Access relevant corporate IT systems per role permissions.
- Control team access to facilities and IT systems.
- Support management with assigned tasks as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics preferred.
- Two to three years of experience in supervisory or people management roles, with a background in production planning.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, proficient in verbal and written communication.
- Working knowledge of MRP and SAP systems.
- Advanced skills in analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with proven efficient work methods, analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing principles and investigation/problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability to lift, push, and pull weights up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
