Job description
Opportunity Overview
This position is for a Project Coordinator working within the Corporate Social Responsibility function and reporting to the Senior Manager - CSR, based in Gurgaon.
About the Function
The MakeMyTrip Foundation serves as the philanthropic and CSR arm of MakeMyTrip. Its purpose is to help tourism strengthen the communities and environments it touches, rather than harm them. The foundation works to improve the resilience, sustainability, and inclusiveness of India’s tourist destinations by supporting local communities and the natural systems that sustain them.
The team collaborates with regional NGOs, environmental experts, government departments, socially responsible hotel partners, and volunteers across India. Its work includes afforestation and increasing green cover, water stewardship, responsible waste management, protection of marine and coastal ecosystems, community-led tourism, sustainable livelihoods, education, and disaster relief and rehabilitation.
Role Summary
The Project Coordinator will help drive CSR and community development programmes from planning through execution, monitoring, and reporting. The role acts as a bridge between the office and field operations, with regular interaction with implementation partners, site visits, stakeholder engagement, and quality checks to ensure programmes deliver measurable and transparent outcomes.
This position suits someone who is comfortable reviewing budgets, visiting plantation or project sites, meeting community groups, and presenting results to senior leadership. The work has a direct impact on India’s landscapes and communities.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of CSR and community development projects across several locations while keeping schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks on track.
- Act as the primary day-to-day contact for NGO and implementation partners, including review of plans, deliverables, and fund usage against milestones.
- Visit project locations regularly to assess progress, validate implementation on ground, and capture feedback from communities and partner organisations.
- Monitor outputs, outcomes, and impact indicators; assist with baseline studies, impact reviews, and third-party evaluations.
- Draft detailed progress updates, dashboards, and presentations for leadership, trustees, and CSR compliance reporting.
- Maintain accurate records, MIS, and fund-disbursement documentation in accordance with governance and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with communities, government and district officials, hotel and tourism partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Support the identification of new initiatives, conduct partner due diligence, and review project proposals.
- Contribute to volunteer programmes, awareness initiatives, and emergency disaster-relief responses as required.
Requirements
- A graduate degree is mandatory; a postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Environmental Science/Studies, Social Work, Rural Development, Development Studies, Natural Resource Management, Sociology, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
- Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in CSR, NGOs or foundations, development work, social impact, community development, rural development, or environmental conservation.
- Should have hands-on exposure to project coordination, partner management, monitoring and evaluation, field execution, fund handling, and impact reporting.
- Exposure to any of these domains will be an added advantage: environmental conservation and afforestation, waste management, water conservation, livelihoods and community development, marine and coastal ecosystem protection, community-based and sustainable tourism, destination development, rural development, or disaster relief and rehabilitation.
