About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our Learning Support team based in Te Tai Tokerau (Kaitaia, Kerikeri, or Whangārei). This permanent, full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to creating an equitable education system that supports children's learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with educators, parents, caregivers, and whānau to deepen the understanding of children's behaviours and learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and oversee personalised learning plans tailored to individual students.
• Support changes in the learning environment to better manage behaviours, enhance safety, and promote pro-social responses and participation.
• Facilitate connections to external services such as speech therapy and local agencies to meet children’s specific needs.
• Promote inclusive educational practices within schools and early learning settings.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in supporting children and youth exhibiting severe and challenging behaviours.
• Proven ability and willingness to work collaboratively with families, professionals, agencies, and the education sector.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to nurture effective professional relationships.
• Commitment to evidence-based interventions that foster inclusive education and improve student achievement.
• Holds a Masters-level qualification such as a Post-graduate Diploma in Educational or Clinical Psychology (or equivalent), along with New Zealand Psychologist Board registration and a current Practicing Certificate.
• Culturally sensitive with a respect for ethnic diversity and dedication to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
• Adherence to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About Our Team

Our frontline group, Te Mahau | Te Tai Tokerau, provides leadership and integrated services to the education sector, including learning support and regulatory functions. We work in both English and Māori mediums, collaborating with families, schools, and early childhood educators to support children and young people with additional learning needs.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $85,416 to $116,316 per annum plus KiwiSaver, commensurate with skills and experience.
