Role Overview

We are seeking a developer passionate about creating innovative solutions that streamline and automate Linux installation, configuration, and testing on Z systems. The position involves designing and developing new features, improving existing code, and ensuring superior software quality through thorough testing and debugging. Close collaboration with customers is essential to tailor solutions to their requirements.

Technical Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based software and REST APIs.
• Implement frontend interfaces using React, Typescript, and related tools.
• Engage in Core Linux development and virtualization using hypervisors.
• Utilize tools and practices including git/Gerrit, shell scripting, containers, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Groovy scripts, automated testing, and OpenShift deployment.
• Participate in project management and agile development activities, including iteration planning, cross-team coordination, and alignment with customer goals.
• Foster community engagement through collaboration with open source contributors and client engagement.
• Exhibit leadership in technical excellence, code quality, architecture decisions, and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Python full-stack development.
• Strong expertise in Python, SQL databases, Carbon UI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, REST API design, and distributed services.
• Proficient in OpenStack components and React frontend development.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies (Type1/Type2 hypervisors), network segmentation, process and resource management.
• Solid skills in C/C++/Java programming are advantageous.
• Experience with storage and fabric architectures favorable.
• Competence in version control and code review tools (git/Gerrit), shell scripting, container orchestration, system monitoring, Jenkins pipelines, playbooks, and process automation.
• Familiarity with deployment on OpenShift.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Experience with agile methodologies and software development lifecycle management.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of Python development experience.
• More than 2 years of UI development experience with Carbon and React.
• Experience working with zLinux operating systems and virtualization/hypervisors.
• Expertise in source code repository management and scripting for test automation.
