QC - Dimension Control

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and execute dimension control activities, ensuring they are performed safely, efficiently, and in strict adherence to technical specifications, company policies, and established procedures. This position also focuses on continuous improvement in the dimension control management of projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Conduct comprehensive dimensional inspections on ship blocks, modules, and assemblies to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and acceptable tolerances.
• Validate the alignment, flatness, plumbness, and levelness of structural components throughout the fabrication and erection phases.
• Execute as-built dimensional surveys utilizing advanced equipment such as total stations, laser trackers, theodolites, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain the calibration, proper handling, and effective use of all dimensional control instruments and survey equipment.
• Inspect outfitting components, including foundations, supports, and penetrations, for dimensional accuracy prior to installation.
• Generate detailed dimensional inspection reports that document any deviations, non-conformities, and propose corrective actions.
• Facilitate clear communication of dimensional discrepancies to production, engineering, and QC teams to ensure prompt resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and welding teams to effectively address and resolve dimensional challenges.
• Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, coordinating necessary maintenance or recalibration services.
• Confirm that all fabrication and installation processes align with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans (QCPs), and established dimensional control procedures.
• Adhere to all shipyard safety protocols and ensure that all inspection activities are conducted in a safe manner.
