Job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Manager to take charge of developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Assurance strategy for a food manufacturing site in County Kildare, Ireland. This permanent position reports directly to the Technical Manager and is pivotal in ensuring that the site consistently produces safe, legal, and top-quality food products.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Quality Department at the site, steering continuous improvement initiatives within quality and food safety management systems.
  • Manage the product traceability program, ensuring all products are tracked effectively.
  • Design, implement, and maintain quality management policies and procedures, including up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Handle customer complaints through thorough root cause analysis, followed by corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer requirements, legal regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Production and Maintenance teams to support overall quality goals.
  • Perform inspections, audits, and product sampling across the manufacturing process, including audits related to supplier quality.
  • Deliver comprehensive quality and food safety training to staff, promoting understanding and adherence to company procedures.
  • Coordinate and lead audits and inspections by customers, regulatory agencies, and third parties.
  • Schedule and conduct internal audits, site inspections, and structural audits to verify ongoing compliance with recognized food safety standards.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Proven background in a Quality Assurance or Quality Management position within food manufacturing.
  • Experience in high-care, chilled, or meat processing environments is preferred but not mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety protocols, quality management systems, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Competence in managing regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and effective leadership qualities.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong focus on continuous enhancement of quality processes.
  • Capability to work collaboratively across various departments to meet quality and operational targets.
