Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for precise measurement and pricing by interpreting contract drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities. The role involves overseeing all post-contract quantity surveying activities such as managing interim and final payments, handling variations, overseeing commercial and contractual correspondence, monitoring cash flows, and addressing claims.
Additional duties include advising on contractual issues, ensuring contractual requirements are fully met, auditing contractor payments, and promptly submitting comprehensive valuations. The candidate must verify and document measurements of completed work, prepare variations and day-work reports, monitor final contract cost estimates, and maintain detailed expenditure records. Reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing claim settlements will also be required, alongside coordinating and supervising the team’s activities. Preparing financial statements for monthly reporting is part of this position, as well as performing other related tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying and bring at least 10 years of experience working on large infrastructure projects, preferably within the UAE or broader GCC region. Knowledge of both pre-contract and post-contract administration is essential. Strong oral and written communication abilities are a must to interact with management and staff clearly and logically.
Preference will be given to candidates with UAE Authority approval as a Quantity Surveyor. A solid understanding of construction commercial documents, contract drawings, and specifications is required, along with familiarity with AutoCAD software. The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills and the capability to work autonomously.
