Job description

Overview

This is a rewarding opportunity to join Broadmoor Hospital as a research assistant. The post sits within the Broadmoor Research Hub, based in a modern high-secure hospital environment that supports safe, secure and up-to-date clinical care for patients from London and southern England.

About the Trust

West London NHS Trust is a large and diverse healthcare organisation providing mental health, physical healthcare and community services. It operates Broadmoor Hospital, one of only three high-secure hospitals in the country, and has a strong reputation for forensic services. The Trust employs around 4,500 staff, with 56% from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and reported a turnover of £426m for 2023-24. It is rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission, with forensic services rated Outstanding. The Trust also plays a key role in the North West London Integrated Care System and leads the NW London Children and Adolescent Mental Health provider collaborative.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will support research activity across the site, contribute to new research ideas and proposals, and work on studies that may be co-produced with patients. There is scope to develop individual projects with guidance from the research lead.

Key Duties

The role includes assisting with all stages of on-site research, helping shape and coordinate future research proposals, supporting two patient involvement groups, organising research presentations and conferences, and maintaining the Research Hub website.

Candidate Profile

The trust is looking for someone with prior research experience, a positive attitude, and a strong interest in improving care quality within forensic mental health settings.
