Job description
About the company
The organization is part of a broader event-production group built over the last decade by bringing together seating and staging specialists into a single provider. Through the integration of multiple businesses, it now supports temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production across the U.S. events sector. The business is backed by ZMC, a private equity firm known for investing alongside management teams and creating value through sector expertise and active operational support.
The role is based with Seating Solutions in Hauppauge, NY and focuses on supporting the design, documentation, and delivery of complex temporary and permanent event structures. It is suited to someone who can convert early-stage ideas into accurate, build-ready construction documents and work closely with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams.
Role overview
The Technical Designer will be responsible for producing and maintaining precise Revit models and drawing sets for large-scale live events, sporting venues, and specialty structures. The position requires strong technical judgment, a sharp eye for detail, and comfort working in a fast-moving, deadline-sensitive setting.
Key responsibilities
- Create detailed Revit models and construction drawings that are compliant with codes, ready for fabrication, and accurate for installation.
- Turn design concepts, engineering direction, and field conditions into fully coordinated drawing packages.
- Manage Revit files, including families, templates, views, and sheets.
- Work in coordination with engineering, project management, CAD/design teams, and field staff across the full project timeline.
- Revise drawings quickly to capture design changes, RFIs, and site-specific updates.
- Take part in design reviews, production meetings, and project handoff discussions.
- Protect drawing accuracy, dimensional correctness, and buildability.
- Assist with QA/QC checks for drawing outputs and model standards.
- Help improve design processes, standards, and Revit workflows over time.
Required qualifications
- Hands-on professional experience as a Technical Designer, BIM Designer, or Revit Designer.
- Advanced command of Autodesk Revit, preferably with an architecture or structures focus.
- Solid understanding of construction documentation practices and cross-discipline coordination.
- Strong spatial awareness and a careful approach to detail.
- Ability to handle several projects and deadlines at once.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Comfort working in Windows-based PC environments and using Microsoft Office.
Preferred background
- Experience with temporary structures, event infrastructure, staging, seating, or modular construction.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar Autodesk tools.
- Working knowledge of fabrication processes and constructability.
- Experience partnering with engineers and working with structural calculations.
- Understanding of BIM standards, model coordination, and drawing control.
- Ability to support both 2D and 3D workflows across multiple software platforms.
Education and experience
An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. The role calls for 5 to 10 years of Revit experience, though comparable industry experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
Work environment and additional requirements
This is a fast-paced, project-led role. A background check and drug screening are required. Depending on project needs, some travel and flexible working hours may be necessary.
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000.
- Competitive compensation
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life insurance
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- 401(k) plan with company match
- Opportunity to contribute to high-profile national events and venues
