Role Overview

We are searching for a Roads Design Engineer to contribute to the execution of a major Buildings & Infrastructure project in Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for all phases of road geometry, signage, markings, and ancillary elements for urban and inter-urban road projects, which may include tunnels, complex grade-separated interchanges, and service roads. Conduct alternative investigations, select routes, and prepare main bill quantities.
• Delegate tasks to junior engineers, oversee their work, and manage acquisition of road design approvals.
• Coordinate with local authorities to obtain approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for road geometry and corridor alignment through the Common NOC System and relevant entities.
• Lead the submission, discussion, and follow-up processes with authorities for necessary permits and approvals, working in collaboration with local authority engineers.
• Collaborate actively with the design team, maintain close liaison with sub-consultants, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project.
• Work closely with the Traffic Impact Study (TIS) consultant to secure approvals from designated authorities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory; a Master's degree would be an added advantage.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in road design, including a minimum of 5 years’ current experience in Qatar or the Middle East.
• Proficient knowledge of Qatar's local authority procedures, standards, and regulations is essential.
• Strong expertise in Civil 3D and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• MMUP registration is required or the candidate must have the capacity to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
• Familiarity with Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM) and related local authority approval processes is crucial.
• Possession of Road Safety Audit Certificates is advantageous.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Experience in interdisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to navigate authority NOC, approval, and permit procedures confidently.
• Strong teamwork, excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
