Role overview
This opportunity is for a senior Sales Development Director to own the worldwide sales development function and set the direction for lead generation at scale. The position plays a key part in shaping revenue pipeline growth and supporting the wider expansion of a fast-growing SaaS company.
The role is fully remote, and you will collaborate with a geographically distributed team, with the broader sales development group mainly operating from the Cork office.
Leadership
- Set and execute the overall sales development approach to increase lead flow and build pipeline.
- Ensure the sales development plan is closely connected to wider sales and marketing goals.
- Guide, coach, and develop the team to build a strong culture of performance.
- Support ongoing training, feedback, and professional growth for team members.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work in close partnership with sales, marketing, and product teams to keep messaging and execution aligned.
- Share customer feedback and market observations to help strengthen the company’s offerings.
Pipeline creation and performance management
- Track progress and results, review data, and use insights to improve outcomes.
- Research industry movement, competitor activity, and new market opportunities to stay ahead of trends.
- Improve lead generation methods and identify promising markets using research and analytics.
- Refine sales development processes and best practices to improve productivity and impact.
- Introduce tools and systems that simplify operations and improve internal communication.
- Prepare and deliver regular updates on lead generation, conversion performance, and pipeline health to senior leadership.
- Recommend strategic adjustments based on performance findings.
Experience and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in enterprise sales development, lead generation, or business development, including at least 4 years in a senior leadership or director-level role, ideally in SaaS technology.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing sales development teams and exceeding lead generation goals.
- Strong grasp of enterprise SaaS environments, including both high-velocity and low-velocity sales motions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to influence and motivate others.
- Analytical, data-led approach with the ability to assess performance and make sound decisions.
- Comfort using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot, along with sales enablement tools like Salesloft.
- Strong leadership capability, a deep understanding of the sales process, and a genuine drive for business development.
- Strong interest in technology and innovation.
- Strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment and manage several priorities at once.
