Overview
LightFeather is hiring a dedicated Scrum Master to support a federal cloud modernization initiative for a large governmental agency. This role acts as the main agile facilitator for a cloud engineering squad working primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) projects. The Scrum Master will ensure the smooth operation of all Scrum ceremonies and maintain sprint progress in a dynamic, highly technical setting. The position requires close collaboration with the Product Owner, technical leads, and federal stakeholders. Communication with senior engineers and agency clients is fundamental.
Work Location & Schedule
This role is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence four days a week and one telework day.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Manage and lead sprint demonstration events to showcase completed work.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to refine the backlog, decompose user stories, and maintain accurate sprint tracking in Jira.
- Provide transparent sprint status updates by generating reports and tracking task ownership to keep team members and leadership informed.
- Maintain project documentation in SharePoint and coordinate documentation efforts with the Business Analyst.
- Oversee ServiceNow ticketing integrated with Jira workflows, ensuring stakeholders receive timely progress updates.
- Assist with change management by coordinating pipeline and security-related tasks with the technical team.
- Promote and uphold agile values and processes, setting standards for work tracking, communication, and delivery.
Required Qualifications
- United States citizenship with active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
- 5-8 years of experience as a Scrum Master in technology or software delivery settings.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or an equivalent agile certification.
- Proven ability to facilitate entire Scrum workflow and manage sprint execution end-to-end.
- Proficiency in Jira for story creation, task breakdown, and sprint tracking.
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Basic understanding of DevSecOps principles and delivery pipelines for effective grooming discussions.
- Conceptual knowledge of federal IT security frameworks like NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP and ATO processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective engagement with engineers, product leaders, and federal clients.
- Ability to work onsite in Washington, D.C. five days a week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal IT projects or government cloud modernization efforts.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) specifically is a desirable asset.
- Familiarity with SharePoint for managing documentation repositories.
- Experience working with ServiceNow, especially when integrated with Jira ticketing workflows.
- Additional certifications like Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe, or cloud provider certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Background in coordinating change management within agile delivery contexts.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000, dependent on experience.
