About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the financial services sector, is recruiting an experienced Senior Environments Manager on a six-month daily rate contract with hybrid working flexibility. This role will lead the creation and management of an Environment Management function to support a major technology transformation programme, ensuring the reliability, governance, and efficiency of various environments throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee comprehensive management of development, testing, user acceptance, and production environments for a complex transformation initiative.
- Create and enforce a standardized Environment Management operating framework, encompassing governance, policies, controls, and process support.
- Coordinate environment availability, data refresh cycles, and usage planning across multiple teams to meet programme deadlines.
- Work closely with Release Management and technical delivery teams to prepare environments for software deployments, testing phases, and production launches.
- Manage interdependencies between cloud platforms, integrated systems, and on-premises infrastructure to maintain consistent environment uptime.
- Set up governance committees, uphold configuration standards, and ensure thorough documentation compliance to satisfy operational and audit needs.
- Lead troubleshooting of environment-related issues via proactive monitoring, root cause investigations, and implementation of sustainable solutions.
- Promote the utilization of automation and tooling for environment provisioning, validation, monitoring, and configuration management enhancements.
- Provide leadership in the Environment Management domain, encouraging best practices and facilitating knowledge exchange among technical teams.
Experience and Skills Required
- At least 10 years’ expertise in Environment Management, Release Management, DevOps, Platform Operations, or similar fields.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple software lifecycle environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure services.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 environments and deployment workflows.
- Experienced supporting hybrid technology setups including cloud and on-prem environments.
- Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and deployment strategies.
- Background working in complex, large-scale, and strictly regulated enterprise IT environments.
- Ability to juggle competing demands effectively while collaborating with technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party providers.
Desirable Qualifications and Knowledge
- Experience implementing governance frameworks and enterprise-level Environment Management operating models.
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation and configuration management tools.
- Awareness of contemporary monitoring, observability, and environment validation technologies.
- Understanding of networking, identity/access management, and enterprise integration approaches.
- Involvement in digital transformation or enterprise technology modernization programmes.
- Knowledge of regulatory, security, and compliance requirements in regulated sectors.
- Exposure to Agile, DevOps, and IT Service Management methodologies.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Azure, DevOps, ITIL, or relevant credentials.
Additional Information
This is a six-month contract position based in Dublin. Hybrid working arrangement is available. The role involves managing a critical transformation programme within a financial services organization.
