Role Summary

An opportunity is available for a Senior ETL Designer & Developer in Doha, Qatar. The position focuses on building and supporting large-scale data integration and analytics platforms, with work spanning Informatica PowerCenter, Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Google Cloud Platform. The work includes telecom data processing, enterprise reporting, ad-hoc analytics, and performance improvement across complex EDW landscapes.

Core Responsibilities

The role calls for end-to-end design, development, and support of ETL/ELT solutions, along with ongoing optimization of data pipelines, warehouse structures, and reporting layers.

  • Create and maintain ETL/ELT workflows in Informatica PowerCenter.
  • Develop scalable batch processing as well as near real-time data movement pipelines.
  • Build reusable mappings, workflows, and transformation components.
  • Use Unix shell scripting to automate ETL operations.
  • Work across Teradata EDW environments and contribute to layered warehouse design across Staging, ODS, EDW, and Data Marts.
  • Apply strong knowledge of Teradata CLDM (Common Logical Data Model).
  • Analyze execution plans, improve partitioning approaches, tune joins and indexes such as PI and NUSI, and manage query/workload performance.
  • Write advanced Teradata SQL for complex transformations and high-volume datasets.
  • Design and refine dimensional data models, including star and snowflake structures.
  • Deliver data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
  • Support hybrid architectures that connect on-premises EDW systems with cloud platforms.
  • Assist enterprise BI and reporting tools such as SAP BusinessObjects, Qlik Sense, and Looker.
  • Handle ad-hoc reporting needs from business users through EDW and BI layers.
  • Use Denodo for federated access, logical modeling, and performance improvement.
  • Work with telecom OSS/BSS data, including CDR/IPDR processing, billing, CRM, subscriber lifecycle, and network performance/fault/mediation information.
  • Understand and work with telecom KPIs such as ARPU, churn, usage trends, and QoS metrics.
  • Support troubleshooting, monitoring, and reliability of data pipelines and ETL jobs.
  • Improve scalability and efficiency of ETL jobs, SQL queries, and EDW processes.

Experience and Technical Requirements

The role expects more than seven years of practical experience in ETL development and data warehousing, with strong hands-on capability in Informatica PowerCenter, Teradata EDW, Teradata SQL, and performance tuning. Experience with GCP data services, Unix shell scripting, and telecom data environments is highly relevant. Knowledge of data modeling approaches such as Kimball and Inmon, along with EDW architecture best practices, is also important.

  • 7+ years of experience in ETL development and data warehousing.
  • Strong practical experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
  • Deep knowledge of Teradata EDW, CLDM, and tuning methods.
  • Advanced Teradata SQL development and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience designing or working within layered EDW structures.
  • Solid understanding of advanced SQL and data modeling frameworks such as Kimball and Inmon.
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform data services.
  • Unix shell scripting skills for automation and control.
  • Telecom domain exposure is preferred or required depending on the role level.

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Experience moving data platforms from on-premises EDW systems to GCP.
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting/automation tools.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.
  • Familiarity with BI semantic layers and enterprise reporting setups.
  • Background in supporting ad-hoc business reporting in large organizations.

Soft Skills

  • Clear communication and stakeholder handling ability.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving approach.
  • Comfort working in agile, fast-moving environments.
