Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is with a well-known group operating through a high-performing finance function. The role sits at the centre of the controllership agenda and is designed to strengthen balance sheet integrity, improve financial control, and provide stronger oversight in a multi-layered operating environment.
You will work closely with senior finance leaders to improve reporting quality, reinforce governance, and create a more consistent approach to risk management. The position also offers scope to support wider transformation work and bring more structure and transparency to financial processes and decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead efforts to build confidence in core financial controls across a complex, multi-entity setup.
- Take ownership of important balance sheet areas, with a focus on improving how risk, accuracy, and oversight are managed.
- Help shape a reliable month-end close process that is well controlled and able to withstand external review.
- Work in partnership with teams across the organisation to spot risks early and support better decision-making.
- Serve as a dependable point of contact for assurance activities, including audit and governance requirements.
- Manage and develop a geographically spread team, strengthening capability and encouraging accountability.
- Promote process improvements through simplification, standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience, gained in a complex and fast-changing organisation. Experience in a listed company environment is advantageous.
You should bring intellectual curiosity, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively through ambiguity and change. Strong communication and influencing skills are important, along with the ability to earn trust across different teams.
We are looking for someone who enjoys leading people, develops high-performing teams, and pays close attention to detail. A commercial mindset and a desire to make a measurable impact are also key.
