About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Linux Kernel & Device Driver Engineer with over 8 years of experience in Linux system software development, kernel programming, board support package (BSP) development, and embedded system design. The position is based in Bangalore and involves designing, developing, customizing, and debugging Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and platform software tailored for embedded SoC-based products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and BSP software.
  • Conduct board bring-up activities, customize bootloaders such as U-Boot, and integrate hardware with software components.
  • Create and adapt drivers for various peripherals including GPIO, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, NAND, NOR, eMMC, DDR, and sensors.
  • Debug and optimize kernel-level, driver, and system issues to ensure stability and performance.
  • Support kernel version upgrades, upstream contributions, driver portability, and platform software improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and system engineering teams.
  • Deliver high-quality and reliable software solutions with optimal performance.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in Linux Kernel Development and Device Driver Programming.
  • Strong expertise in C programming and system software development.
  • Experienced with BSP development and board bring-up processes.
  • Knowledgeable in Embedded Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with ARM and x86 architectures.
  • Expertise in bootloader development and debugging, specifically U-Boot.
  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals including scheduler, memory management, IPC, DMA, IOMMU, NAPI, and interrupt handling.
  • Proficient in developing drivers for PCIe, Ethernet, USB, GPIO, SPI, I2C, UART interfaces.
  • Experience with multi-core systems and concurrent programming techniques.
  • Hands-on hardware-software integration skills.
  • Competent in system-level debugging tools like JTAG, J-Link, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiar with version control systems like Git and GitHub.
  • Experience in Yocto and Buildroot build systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in GPU, multimedia, and display driver development.
  • Familiarity with OpenGL and OpenCL APIs.
  • Knowledge of kernel upstreaming and driver porting.
  • Expertise in PCIe subsystems and performance optimization.
