The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Business Operations for our Toronto office. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, adaptable, highly organized, and an exceptional communicator. This role requires a hands-on approach to execution combined with strategic thinking and a calculated methodology. This position is pivotal in shaping and implementing our business strategies, enhancing operational efficiency, and propelling ShyftLabs to new heights.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage the complete lifecycle of contracts, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and vendor agreements.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel for the review and negotiation of agreements.
- Maintain a comprehensive contract repository and ensure adherence to all terms.
- Identify and pursue relevant government grants and funding opportunities across North America, such as SR&ED and IRAP.
- Oversee the application processes, manage reporting obligations, and ensure compliance.
- Facilitate client onboarding and provide ongoing operational coordination.
- Serve as a liaison between internal departments and clients on operational matters.
- Enhance client-facing processes, documentation, and communication workflows.
- Support daily financial operations, including invoicing, collections, and expense tracking.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Streamline financial processes, implement new tools, and improve visibility into business performance.
- Manage the internal software stack, including licenses, access, and cost optimization for tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, AWS, GitHub, PagerDuty, Postman, Figma, Miro, and Claude.
- Oversee employee system and access management for onboarding and offboarding.
- Manage the procurement, setup, and tracking of company devices for the team.
- Support and enforce organizational security best practices.
- Administer access controls, data security protocols, and internal policies.
- Assist with ongoing compliance initiatives, including ISO, SOC2, and internal policy adherence.
- Ensure operational efficiency across global teams.
- Maintain strategic alignment across all business lines.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in business operations.
- A university degree in Business Administration, Management, Commerce, or a related field.
- Previous experience within a startup, consulting firm, or a fast-paced tech environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing contracts and coordinating legal matters.
- Solid financial acumen and experience.
- The ability to rapidly adapt and shift focus across different business areas.
- A proactive and resourceful approach to managing business operations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous involvement with government grants and funding programs.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, SOC2) and related tools (e.g., Vanta, Scrut).
- Exposure to financial management tools (e.g., Ramp, Quickbooks).
- A postgraduate business degree.
