Position overview

ShyftLabs is hiring a Senior Human Resources Manager to support the company’s growth and report directly to the VP. In this role, you will own and improve the organization’s HR and People Operations programs, helping shape a strong employee experience as the business scales internationally.

The position focuses on keeping HR practices compliant, strengthening hiring processes, and building effective systems for onboarding, offboarding, performance management, and learning and development. You will also help reinforce a positive workplace culture across a distributed workforce.

ShyftLabs is a data product company established in early 2020. The company works primarily with Fortune 500 organizations, creating digital solutions that help businesses grow faster through innovation and value delivery.

HR operations and employee lifecycle

  • Own and coordinate HR activities across the business, including onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, documentation, and core HR workflows.
  • Build and refine scalable HR policies, procedures, and internal tools that can support international expansion.
  • Maintain employee records, oversee HRIS administration, and prepare organizational reporting.
  • Administer employee benefit plans and employee filings in both Canada and the United States.
  • Make sure new hires have a smooth onboarding experience across countries and time zones.
  • Run offboarding activities, exit interviews, and knowledge transfer steps.

Recruitment and talent acquisition

  • Work with leadership to shape hiring plans that support business priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for both technical and non-technical positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers on headcount planning, interview coordination, and candidate assessment.
  • Strengthen employer brand efforts and improve the candidate journey.
  • Coordinate with external recruiters and overseas hiring partners when required.

Compliance and employment practices

  • Ensure employment law and workplace policy compliance in Canada, the United States, India, and any other regions where the company operates.
  • Handle employment contracts, contractor agreements, workplace policies, and employee handbooks.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and outside advisors on HR-related issues.
  • Support payroll coordination, benefits administration, and cross-border employment compliance processes.

Performance management and employee development

  • Design and run performance review cycles, feedback systems, and goal-setting processes.
  • Support managers with coaching, employee growth, conflict handling, and performance improvement plans.
  • Contribute to learning and development programs that encourage career progression and retention.
  • Help maintain an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture.

Strategic people leadership

  • Partner with executives on organizational design, workforce planning, and broader people strategy.
  • Use HR metrics and employee feedback to improve engagement, retention, and operating efficiency.
  • Spot opportunities to enhance the employee experience and internal communication.
  • Support scaling efforts, process automation, and organizational change management.

Additional information

This role is on-site and requires five days per week at the Toronto headquarters.

Salary is determined based on relevant experience and skill set.
