Product Designer

Overview

Asana seeks an experienced Product Designer to influence the future of onboarding and user engagement leveraging AI technologies. This position focuses on crafting intelligent, adaptive user experiences that enable new users to quickly unlock value via AI-powered workflows, personalized guidance, and interaction design.

Role & Responsibilities

• Create and refine onboarding and adoption designs that emphasize clarity and design quality, incorporating AI-driven and customized user workflows.
• Develop rapid prototypes to visualize concepts, interactions, and product directions, accelerating team learning and communication.
• Collaborate intensely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists in an iterative development process nurturing experimentation and refinement.
• Keep abreast of advancements in AI and large language model technologies, integrating emerging interaction patterns into product designs.
• Leverage qualitative research, experimental results, and product metrics to optimize user journeys and uncover growth opportunities.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Asana's design system ensuring cohesive, scalable, and premium experiences across platforms.

Team Environment

Asana's design team is a diverse, inclusive community of product, brand, motion, and content designers and related roles. They employ research, data analytics, and collaborative feedback toward human-centered designs that power Asana’s product and brand impact while fostering a creative, enjoyable culture.

Work Arrangements

This position is based in the San Francisco office with a hybrid schedule. Expected office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Remote work is generally available Wednesdays; Fridays are conditional based on the role and team collaboration needs.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 5 years experience in product design, showcasing work especially in onboarding, growth, or AI-enhanced product features.
• Keen interest and understanding of AI products, interaction models, and new user behavior trends related to large language models.
• Proficiency in prototyping tools and a maker mentality to explore and test ideas collaboratively.
• Ability to thrive in collaborative, cross-disciplinary teams working closely with PMs and engineers in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptability to tackle ambiguity and balance incremental improvements with innovative product exploration.
• Excellent visual and interaction design skills, consistently producing polished, intuitive product interfaces through the user journey.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated base salary for this role ranges from 182000 to 207000 USD annually, subject to market conditions and qualifications. In addition to base pay, compensation may include equity and benefits packages such as mental health support, career coaching, inclusive family benefits, retirement plans, and quality in-office dining options.
