SOC Analyst

Overview

The role of a Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst involves continuous monitoring and analysis of an organization's cybersecurity environment to detect, investigate, and respond to potential threats. This position requires vigilance in identifying suspicious activities and mitigating risks to safeguard systems, networks, and sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously observe security alerts and events within a 24/7 operational SOC setting.
• Conduct thorough investigations and timely responses to security incidents.
• Analyze logs generated by firewalls, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools, and similar security technologies.
• Spot vulnerabilities in IT infrastructure and propose enhancements to security postures.
• Escalate urgent and critical security threats to higher-level security personnel.
• Document incident details and maintain comprehensive reports for records and audits.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Fundamental knowledge of computer networking, including protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
• Understanding of core cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, QRadar, or Microsoft Sentinel is desirable.
• Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems at a basic level.
• Capability to respond effectively to cybersecurity incidents.
• Strong analytical thinking combined with problem-solving abilities.

Career Progression

Starting as a SOC Analyst can lead to advanced roles including Senior SOC Analyst, Incident Responder, Threat Hunter, Security Engineer, and ultimately positions such as Cybersecurity Manager.

Additional Details

Salary Range: INR 15,000 to INR 50,000 per month.

Location: Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
