Role Summary
CanKids KidsCan is hiring a compassionate Social Worker with an MSW background for its National Outreach Program in Pune. The position centres on psychosocial support for children with cancer and their families, hospital coordination, treatment assistance, documentation, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Help with admission and registration for newly diagnosed paediatric cancer patients.
- Offer emotional and social support to children and families throughout the course of treatment.
- Work closely with doctors, hospital teams, and caregivers to support patient care.
- Guide families in obtaining treatment support, medicines, blood support, housing assistance, and welfare benefits.
- Track patient follow-ups and ensure support services are delivered on time.
- Handle day-to-day activities at the assigned hospital support unit.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hospital authorities and medical teams.
- Support parent support groups and patient-engagement activities.
- Keep detailed patient files and case records up to date.
- Enter and maintain patient data in organisational systems and databases.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and donor-related reports.
- Ensure proper records for government schemes and financial aid applications.
- Assist with operational tasks at the unit level.
- Support donor-funded initiatives and maintain the required documentation.
- Coordinate with Program Officers and Medical Officers to ensure smooth programme execution.
- Conduct awareness sessions on childhood cancer.
- Take part in community outreach and health awareness campaigns.
- Promote CanKids patient-support services in hospitals and local communities.
Eligibility and Experience
The role is open to any graduate, but the preferred qualification is a Master of Social Work (MSW) from a recognised university. Candidates should have 1 to 2 years of experience in social work. Prior work in hospitals, healthcare, NGOs, or community health programmes is preferred, and experience in paediatric oncology will be an added advantage.
