Job description
About the Role
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking individuals with a background in education and teaching to transition into a Special Agent role. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your analytical and problem-solving skills to critical national security matters, including investigating violent crimes, cyberattacks, terrorism, and fraud. You will leverage your expertise to identify patterns, uncover vital information, and support investigations that safeguard public safety. The FBI is committed to your professional development, offering competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment that fosters work-life balance. This is a chance to build a dynamic career where your skills continuously evolve and your impact grows.
How Your Education and Teaching Expertise Translates to a Special Agent Career
Your background in education and teaching has equipped you with valuable skills such as evaluating information, navigating complex situations, and operating with precision. Experience in areas like Adobe Photoshop, tutoring, and curriculum assessment demonstrates your ability to exercise judgment, maintain accountability, and manage competing priorities. These competencies are directly transferable to the demands of a Special Agent, where you will be required to assess complex scenarios, make critical decisions under pressure, and apply sound judgment in high-stakes environments. At the FBI, your educational expertise will be reframed, allowing you to lead and influence investigations rather than just execute tasks. Your career will shift towards determining the direction and strategy of critical operations.
Major Duties
- Plan and execute investigations into potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity threats, and public safety concerns.
- Employ judgment, resourcefulness, and adaptability to meet diverse investigative challenges.
- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness to ensure readiness for law enforcement duties.
Key Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
Education Requirement
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university. A degree in education or a related field is preferred. All degrees must be verified by submitting official college transcripts.
