Job description

About the Role

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking individuals with a background in education and teaching to transition into a Special Agent role. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your analytical and problem-solving skills to critical national security matters, including combating cyberattacks, terrorism, and fraud. As a Special Agent, you will leverage your expertise to identify patterns, analyze complex data, and support investigations that safeguard public safety. The FBI is committed to your professional development, offering competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment that fosters growth and work-life balance. This is a chance to build a dynamic career where your impact and skills continuously evolve.

How Your Education and Teaching Expertise Translates to a Special Agent Career

Your background in education and teaching has equipped you with valuable skills such as evaluating information, navigating complexity, and operating with precision. Experience in areas like Adobe Photoshop, tutoring, and curriculum assessment demonstrates your ability to exercise judgment, maintain accountability, and manage competing priorities. These competencies are directly transferable to the demands of a Special Agent, where you will be required to assess complex situations, make critical decisions under pressure, and apply sound judgment in high-stakes environments. The FBI will enable you to expand your problem-solving approach beyond a single function, transforming your learned assessments into strategic direction and your management experience into leadership opportunities.

Major Duties

  • Plan and conduct investigations into potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity threats, and public safety concerns.
  • Utilize judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to effectively meet investigative demands.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with domestic and international law enforcement agencies at all levels.
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness to meet the rigorous demands of law enforcement duties.

Key Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
  • Must be willing to undertake required travel.
  • Must meet all FBI Employment Eligibility requirements.

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university is required, with a preference for degrees in education or a related field.
  • All degrees must be verified by submitting official college transcripts.
