Where you'll work
Job description
About the opportunity
Elders is inviting expressions of interest from people who want to join its livestock teams on a full-time basis across Adelong, Tumut, Gundagai, and the broader Eastern Riverina and Upper Murray area. This role suits experienced livestock professionals as well as people ready to build a career in the livestock industry.
Livestock agency is a hands-on career shaped by early mornings in saleyards, face-to-face conversations, and the trust you earn through consistent service and strong local relationships. The business is looking for people who value hard work, community reputation, and quality customer service.
Why this region
The Adelong, Tumut, and Gundagai area offers a strong regional lifestyle with productive livestock and mixed farming country, close-knit communities, affordable living, good schools, and opportunities to raise a family. The location also provides access to Wagga Wagga, Canberra, the Snowy Mountains, and the South Coast, while still keeping you connected to agriculture-driven communities where relationships matter.
What the role looks like
No two days will be the same. You may begin in the yards, spend time on-farm with clients discussing livestock marketing, and end the day developing relationships with buyers, processors, and other local contacts across the district. You will have the backing of a well-known agribusiness brand, along with local autonomy and support to build lasting client relationships.
Role overview
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both existing and prospective livestock clients
- Identify and pursue livestock marketing opportunities throughout the region
- Provide practical, trusted guidance to producers
- Work closely with buyers, processors, and other industry participants
- Assist with livestock sales, auctions, and on-property transactions
- Take part in local industry and community events
- Build your own profile, network, and reputation in the region
What we are looking for
The ideal person may already have livestock agency experience, or may be looking to establish a long-term future in the field. You should be someone who can build trust quickly, enjoys working with rural producers, has a strong work ethic, and approaches the role with a commercial mindset. A willingness to contribute to the wider branch team is also important.
You will also need, or be willing to develop, the ability to negotiate effectively between buyers and sellers. A genuine interest in livestock and agriculture is essential. Having a Livestock Auctioneer Licence and Assessor Accreditation is preferred, although Elders can provide free training for candidates who are willing to complete it.
