Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to join our expanding site team in the Dublin area. This onsite position involves working on diverse structural steel projects, including industrial sites, commercial buildings, and data centres across the Dublin region. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring precise setting out and installation of structural steel, collaborating with site management, design, and erection teams to meet safety, accuracy, and schedule goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately set out structural steelwork following approved drawings and project criteria.
• Confirm foundation details, holding down bolts, and gridlines are correct prior to steel erection.
• Conduct dimensional surveys ensuring installation tolerances are maintained.
• Maintain detailed records of setting out activities.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and steel erectors throughout the installation process.
• Identify and report any variances between site conditions and design documentation.
• Assist with quality control inspections and work verification.
• Ensure surveying instruments are properly calibrated and maintained.
• Work collaboratively with design teams to resolve onsite challenges efficiently.
• Promote and uphold stringent health, safety, and quality standards on site.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in setting out structural steel projects.
• Well-versed with structural steel drawings and technical specifications.
• Skilled in operating Leica, Trimble, or similar surveying equipment.
• Strong aptitude for interpreting engineering drawings and coordinating site activities.
• Keen attention to detail with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Possession of a full driving licence.
• Valid Safe Pass/Construction Skills Registration (CSR) card.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on large-scale industrial, commercial, or data centre projects.
• Familiarity with structural steel installation tolerances and quality requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and surveying software tools.
• Certifications in First Aid and Manual Handling.
