Job Description
The Supervisor - ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) is responsible for overseeing and participating in emergency response operations at the airport. This includes responding to aircraft and structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and airport personnel. The role involves leading firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services, maintaining operational readiness of equipment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in emergency responses to aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material situations on airport property.
- Direct and execute firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services to safeguard individuals and property.
- Extinguish fires using a variety of methods and agents, and conduct search and rescue operations in challenging environments.
- Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS) until advanced medical help arrives, and assist in patient transport.
- Ensure daily inspection and maintenance of firefighting vehicles, equipment, and personal protective gear (PPE).
- Manage inventory of firefighting supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for immediate deployment.
- Participate actively in regular emergency response drills, ICAO-mandated training, and fire simulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, training, and shift activities for compliance and auditing purposes.
- Ensure all activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify and report potential hazards during patrols and inspections, initiating corrective actions promptly.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive incident reports, equipment logs, and other necessary documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with airport operations, medical teams, and external emergency services during incidents.
- Coordinate with Duty Managers, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and airport authorities during emergencies and drills.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or a comparable qualification.
- Certification from a recognized firefighting academy is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in firefighting, with a preference for experience in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) operations.

Key internal stakeholders include the Duty Manager - ARFF, Airport Operations Team, Airport Security, Emergency Medical Services, ARFF Crew Members, Engineering & Maintenance Team, and the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Team. External stakeholders include the Local Fire Services Department, Airlines, Ground Handling Companies, ARFF Equipment Suppliers, Insurance Companies, Local Community Leaders, and Civil Aviation Authorities.
